Bob Kaliszewski served as the Deputy Commissioner for Environmental Quality (EQ) at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). He was named to this position in March, 2017 and served until December 2018.  He was a member of CIRCA’s Executive Steering Committee from May 2016 until December 2018 when he retired.
As Deputy, Bob provided leadership for the three bureaus within DEEP’s EQ Branch – Air Management, Water Protection and Land Reuse (WPLR), and Materials Management and Compliance Assurance (MMCA).
Bob is a veteran of more than 30 years at DEEP.  During that time, he has held a number of key positions that have provided him with  insight into the challenges of environmental regulation.
Bob joined the then Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection in 1986, working in water discharge permitting and enforcement.  He served for several years as the Agency’s Ombudsman.  In this role he was a link between DEP and the regulated community and he worked closely with staff to streamline and strengthen important permitting processes.  His area of responsibility also grew to include Agency planning functions.
In 2013, Bob was named Bureau Chief for the Bureau of Central Services, with a wide range of responsibility including Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Field Services, Planning, and Land Acquisition.
Bob is a graduate of the University of New Haven. He also holds a degree in law from the University of Connecticut and is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.
