Kara Bonsack joined the Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR) team in 2002 as the Communicator for their National NEMO Network. Since then, she has become the primary designer and website developer for CLEAR and UConn Extension, and supports the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR) Communications’ design services, and other University centers, institutes (CIRCA), and departments through partnerships and grant funding. Her primary responsibilities include project management, support services, design, development and maintenance of program websites, and educational materials (includes multi-page reports, fact sheets, newsletters, brochures, posters, displays and flyers). She serves as a resource for faculty and staff and provides training services including webinars and presentations. Additional tasks include the design, maintenance and distribution of electronic publications and communications including presentations, social media, blogs, and e-news updates, logo design, and photography. Kara also supervises and/or supports students and interns within UConn Extension.
Kara is an avid photographer and has taken many of the photographs used in print materials and websites she creates. She received the CAHNR Arland R. Meade Communications Award, in recognition of helping improve communications within the Cooperative Extension System. Kara is a graduate of UConn with a bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in graphic design.
