As CIRCA’s Community Resilience Planner, Mary Buchanan provides support to the Resilient CT project through GIS mapping and stakeholder engagement. Prior to joining CIRCA, Mary held multiple roles dedicated to advancing a just and sustainable future for Connecticut, including mapping scenarios for expanding agricultural land cultivation and access, mapping lands of high conservation priority for land trusts, recording changes in forest bird populations, and writing grants for a shared-use community kitchen non-profit. Mary holds a PhD and MA in Geography from the University of Connecticut and a BA in Biological Sciences from Connecticut College. Her professional interests include applied GIS, regional planning, land use, and sustainable food systems.
