Megan Root is an Oceanographic Research Assistant with the Connecticut Institute for Resilience and Climate Adaptation (CIRCA), where she supports research focused on sea level rise, coastal flooding, and the resilience of Connecticut’s coastal communities. She specializes in the deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of oceanographic instruments, including buoys and environmental sensors, that provide critical data for understanding conditions and processes within Long Island Sound. Her work combines field-based research, environmental monitoring, and data collection to advance coastal science and inform climate adaptation efforts.

Megan holds a B.S. in Environmental Management and Protection from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Before joining CIRCA, she worked with the USGS California Water Science Center, the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center, and the San Luis Obispo Climate Coalition, working in aquatic research, geospatial analysis, environmental monitoring, and community outreach. She is passionate about coastal resiliency and excited to be a part of the CIRCA team!
