Connecticut's tide gates, many originally installed decades ago to drain salt marshes for farming or protect property from flooding, but these same structures can restrict the natural tidal flow salt marshes need to stay healthy. This presentation shares findings from a joint CIRCA (UConn) and CT NERR assessment of the initial resilience assessment of the tide gates. During this webinar see the new statewide ArcGIS Experience Builder tool mapping every gate's location and condition, then dive into case studies where hydraulic modeling and on-the-ground marsh surveys come together to answer: what flood protection and marsh health actually require? A hands-on look at how mapping, modeling, and field science combine to guide Connecticut's coastal resilience planning.
