Defne Alpdogan is a current junior at the University of Connecticut, majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology and Urban and Community Studies with a minor in Spanish. She has worked on various policies including the CT Lead Poisoning Bill last spring and hopes to learn more about the widespread issues that affect minority communities in Connecticut. Her research and her studies are centered around intersectionality and the communities that reside in cities, with a specific interest in the lasting effects of urban containment on current educational practices. She is working at CIRCA as an Environmental Justice Intern, specifically tailored around the EJ Mapping Tool.
