Paola A. Luna Castro is a senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture with a minor in Literary Translation. She works as a Student Lab and Field Analysis Assistant under Professor Julia Smachylo, supporting research in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture.
Originally from El Salvador, Paola developed a strong interest in sustainable design, climate change adaptation, and agriculture early on. She is an active member of the UConn American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Student Chapter, where she serves as a liaison and leads outreach efforts with her peers to raise awareness about the field of landscape architecture. Paola also volunteers with the Cross-Cultural Connections club, where she shares her experience as a language learner and helps international students practice English and engage in cultural exchange. She is expected to graduate in Spring 2026.

Paola will be responsible for assembling the Resilience Round up and is continuing the task of translating CIRCA documents from English to Spanish.
