Building Municipal Resilience & Climate Adaptation Through Low Impact Development

About the Project

Project Summary

Flooding, erosion, and sedimentation are serious and growing concerns for Northwest Connecticut towns and climate change will only increase their impacts exponentially. Increased severity of storms, increased rates but overall decrease in precipitation, and warmer temperatures will re-arrange the hydrologic cycle. One key adaptation practice for this problem is the creation of a Low Impact Development Manual.

This Design Manual will be developed as a model for stormwater management in other small towns in the region and statewide.
